Let’s get changes in fashion styling into perspective. We do not mean going from long blue-black tresses to a Monroe blonde short halo cut. Ladies, this is all about subtle changes over the year. Personally I try to make at about three with my clients. Two is satisfactory, three and I am chuffed, four and you’re a dream client ... we love you!

For all you blonde babes out there, you can’t be summer blonde all year round. Sorry to tell you this but it can wash you out during the cold winter months. ‘OK’, you’re saying, ‘I ain’t going dark if that what you mean …’

What I do mean is this. Subtle blondes with more depth and overtone than ‘ambitious summer cool blondes’ are more in season over winter. Have more high lift blondes woven in with foil with warmer overtones like cool/warm gold or brunette type darker blondes in with the high lift. And cut back on the bleach for at least 3 months.

This gives your hair a rest, and it becomes exciting again when the spring summer months come around. Then you can see the transition with all the different blonde types year round. Ask your stylist instead of weaving in, alternative blonde with a high lift and a third warmer, slightly darker tone for autumn/winter. For the blonde for life girls the compromise is 2 high lift to 1 powder lighter (bleach I hate that word). Blonde babes you are still blonde but the high lift gives more tone and thus makes your skin look a bit peachier.

Do remember girls, very blonde can make you pasty in the winter months. We need real colour in our skin. Sorry, makeup does not cut it...it looks like you can’t shed your summer look. Blonde hair and bronzy skin ... this is a fashion faux pas in winter.

For those who love to experiment with warmer colour palettes it can be exciting not just for you but for your stylist as the changed results are hot to look at through the seasons.

With respect to cutting, it can be simple donkey bangs to asymmetrical side bangs and a slightly warmer high lift and low light. This makes the transition from summer to autumn/winter exciting, and you’ll look like a ‘fashionista’ with a few subtle changes with the scissors and tint brush.

So take a style challenge. Challenge yourself and your stylist. Hair is fun and the only thing on our physical body that we change as much as we like ... Love it!
