The best tips I could give for hair straightening would be to use the best quality straighteners you can afford. Some brands can be expensive, but when you’re dealing with something as delicate and as important as your hair, its worth it in the long run.
You also need a good heat protection spray such as Alberto European Heat Protect Miracle Mist. Remember to spray at arms length while your hair is damp, blow dry using a hairdryer nozzle which will smooth all the cuticles one way. If you don’t have a nozzle get one now!
Once completely dry, divide off the back from the sides into sections using clips so you can concentrate properly on the back area. Make sure the straightener has fully heated up. Start with sections at the nape of the neck about an inch wide.
Use a comb as a detangler and slowly comb your hair through on the way down the hair shaft, in front of the straightener. Continue this all over your head. Remember not to pull down too much or you’ll end up with flat, limp and uninspired hair!
A cool tip for those who use Hair Straighteners – I personally believe the poker-straight look has had its day, and the best thing to do with Hair Straighteners now is to curl and to give hair more body by pulling sections up rather than down.
