Curling with Hair Straighteners

Article Image

My top tips for curling hair with straighteners are to make sure first your hair is bone dry and then use a heat defence spray.

Section off your hair and spray each section at arm’s length. Start at the bottom using an inch thick section, pull sideways and put straighteners in vertically rather than horizontally.
Start at the roots and pull outwards with good tension to keep your hair from sliding out of the side. Move the straighteners steadily, but not too slowly, and twist them so your hair will fall down as you are pulling along the hair shaft.

Then curl and separate with your fingers to define the curl, and carry this on through to the crown. Doing the sides will always be easier as you can see exactly what you are doing. Just remember to pull not too slowly, as even with protection you can still cause damage to your hair!
